Next gen Maruti Ertiga with 1.5L diesel engine slated for end-2017 launch

Next gen Maruti Ertiga to get 1.5L diesel

The next iteration will be lighter, more efficient and safer.

The next gen Maruti Ertiga MPV will be launched a few months later than the next gen Swift and Swift Dzire models, reports Economic Times. While the overhauled hatchback and sedan are scheduled to go on sale in India in the early part of FY2018 (After March 2017), the MPV derivative is expected to be introduced sometime between October 2017 and January 2018.

The 2018 Ertiga will be sharing the new lightweight global platform that will also underpin the upcoming Swift twins. The engineering and development of these cars would be executed taking into account the upcoming Indian crash test and safety norms.

Maruti Ertiga Facelift Interiors

The 1.5-litre diesel engine will help next gen Maruti Ertiga to augment its leadership position in the segment.

Apart from fresh exterior and interior designs, the next gen Ertiga will inherit Suzuki’s in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. Just like its hatchback and compact sedan siblings the new MPV would be available in 1.3-litre DDiS SHVS Hybrid variant as well.

Meanwhile, Maruti is gearing up to introduce a facelift of the current Ertiga in India next month. The updated car receives new front grille, bumpers, taillight extensions, dual-tone dashboard and revised seat fabrics. Under the hood, facelifted Ertiga will get the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine with SHVS Hybrid system that debuted in the Ciaz.
