Nissan India FY 2013-14 sales growth 3%, March 2014 growth 230%


FY 2013-14 saw Nissan India sell 38,217 cars when compared with FY 2012-13, when the company sold 36,975 vehicles here. This accounts for 3% sales growth through FY 2013-14. While Nissan Terrano was only launched in Q4 of 2013, it packed in quite a punch becoming the biggest contributor to sales with 14,998 units sold between October 2013 – March 2014.

Nissan-TerranoIn the Micra hatchback segment, Micra Active and Micra accounted for 12,595 units sold. For March 2014, Nissan India registered sales of 7,019 units over March 2013 when 2,125 units were sold. This equates to 230% sales growth in March ’14.

At the Auto Expo in Delhi earlier this year, Nissan PlayStation GT Academy was introduced. Lucas Ordonez, 2008 GT Academy Winner and 2013 Nismo Athelete accompanied Karun Chandhok at the launch of Nissan GT Academy in India. With gaming venues set up in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, Nissan India has been able to connect with more and more people, giving them an idea about what the Nissan brand is all about.

Nissan PlayStation GT Academy makes perfect sense here as motorsports infrastructure is not developed across the country. The opportunity from going from gamer to racer will always be alluring and a large turnout at these events has given a large group of youngsters the chance to try and top the score.
