Nissan Kicks gets new diesel base variant – Priced Rs 96k lower

Launched in Jan 2019, Nissan sold just 132 units of Kicks in July 2019. With sales of Nissan Kicks failing to increase, the company has now launched a new base variant, which is Rs 96,000 cheaper than the earlier base variant. Nissan Kicks XE is a new diesel variant from the company, and it costs Rs 9.89 lakhs, ex-sh in India. At the same time, XL, XV, and Kicks XV Premium have gotten new features. Price of other variants have been increased by up to Rs 24,000.

Speaking about the new Nissan Kicks XE variant, it features dual airbags, ABS + EBD + brake Assist, auto AC with rear AC vents Nissan Connect, integrated 2 DIN audio system with 4 speakers, glove box with light and cooling function. Safety features include a central door lock with child lock, speed sensing auto door lock and impact sensing auto door unlock, and rear parking sensors.

Sriram Padmanabhan, Vice President – Marketing, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The new Nissan KICKS has generated positive response from SUV enthusiasts from across the country. Responding to the immense interest in an entry-level diesel variant, we have introduced the new XE Diesel trim. The feature rich new XE Diesel Trim offers a great value proposition to the consumers while ensuring best-in-class services and quality assurance.”

Nissan Kicks XL is available at a price of Rs 11.09L. New features include an 8” A-IVI (android in- vehicle infotainment) system. The vehicle relies on Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto connectivity, voice recognition, steering mounted audio controls, R17 5-spoke machined alloy wheels, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), front fog lamp, ECO mode and a functional roof rail.

Kicks XV is listed at a price of Rs 12.51L. Newly added features include LED projector headlamps, push button start/stop, Smart Card for keyless entry, electrical adjustable and foldable ORVMs, cruise control and hill start assist, and 2 tweeters among others.

Kicks XV Pre costs Rs 13.69L. Feature additions include a dual-tone black and brown interior with carbon fibre finish, 360 – around view monitor, side airbags, leather seats and leather wrapped soft-touch dash, auto headlamp and cornering front fog lamp, and rain sensing wipers.

Engine options include 1.5-litre H4K petrol and 1.5-litre K9K DCi diesel, with the former delivering 106 bhp / 142 Nm, whereas the latter makes 110 bhp and 240 Nm. Petrol engine is mated to 5-speed manual whereas diesel engine is mated to 6-speed manual transmission. Kicks automatic variant is certainly desirable, but the company has not revealed any plans for the same.

Nissan Connect features include geo-fencing, speed alert, curfew alert, locate my car and share my car location. This helps address safety and security concerns, giving owners greater knowhow related to vehicle whereabouts.

Nissan Kicks offers a wide range of features with Kicks such as ECO mode, first-in-class around view monitor, best-in-class NissanConnect with Smartwatch Connectivity, first-in-class floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, ABS with EBD, front dual and side seat airbags, vehicle dynamic control (VDC), anti-intrusion bar, rear parking sensors with camera, speed sensing door locks, and follow-me-home headlamps.
