Nissan Kicks 5 seater SUV (rival to Vitara, Creta) – India launch soon

Nissan Kicks SUV, slated for launch before Diwali 2018, will be marginally different in style and stance as compared to its international spec model. The India-spec Nissan Kicks will not only be more spacious but will also have a host of onboard connectivity technology options and will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options.

Alfonso Albaisa, Executive Design Director, Nissan Group has confirmed that the Nissan Kicks in India will differ from its international spec model. It will be based on the B0 platform of the Renault Captur.

Nissan Kicks is a successful SUV in the international market. There, it measure 4.3 meters, making it a perfect rival to new age SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and the Suzuki Vitara. Kicks will follow the Japanese carmaker’s newest design philosophy with V-Motion grille, wrap around head and tail lamps and a floating D pillar.

It will be positioned as a premium SUV in the company lineup and will pack in features such as LED projector headlamps, stability and traction control, multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors and 17” machine finished alloy wheels.

Nissan Kicks for India will be similar to Euro spec Kicks in exterior design.

Like its international spec model it will get a floating roofline, a rear roof spoiler and a choice of 12 different color options. Interiors will be spacious and done up with premium leather upholstery. It will get a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Nissan Kicks will be powered by a 1.5 liter dCi diesel engine in India. This engine will offer 110 PS power and 245 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Its 1.5 liter petrol engine will be capable of 106 PS power and 142 Nm torque which is also found on the Renault Duster and Captur. Like Renault Captur, the Nissan Kicks will also be offered with an All Wheel Drive option.

On launch in India, Nissan Kicks will have a list of contenders among which are the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster and Captur, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, the soon to be launched Kia SP concept based SUV, Volkswagen T-Cross, Maruti Suzuki Vitara and the Skoda made for India SUV.
