Designed to be a head turner, new Nissan Kicks has stylish exteriors and dominating road presence. It’s a pleasure to look at the beautiful curves and unmistakable character lines, all of which have been done in right proportions and with perfect precision. We will be driving the new Nissan Kicks in Bhuj tomorrow. Ahead of that, the SUV has been officially revealed during media presentation.
Kicks’ signature V-motion grille looks stunning and when viewed along with the swept-back LED projector headlamps with DRL, the front fascia is a treat to marvel at. Other key features include floating roof design in contrasting colour, door-mounted ORVMs with turn signals, shark fin antenna, stylish roof rail with 100 kgs loading capacity, 1 liter bottle holders in all four doors, rear AC vents, and R15 5-spoke machined alloy wheels.
Being positioned as a premium compact SUV, Kicks will have various high-end features such as all-leather upholstery, soft-touch dashboard, dual tone interiors, leather wrapped steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster with MID and analogue speedometer and 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. It also has voice recognition with Siri and OK Google. Power sockets are offered in the front as well as at the rear, smart card as replacement for keyless entry, auto AC, rear arm rest, driver seat height adjustable, etc.
Kicks is also likely to receive some first-in-segment features such as Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection. AVM takes inputs from four outside cameras, two at the front and two at the rear, and produces a dynamic, 360° view of the outside environment on the screen. This makes the driver aware of any pedestrians or obstructions that may be there. AVM also sounds an alert if any moving object is detected outside.
Nissan Kicks will most likely use the same petrol and diesel engine as can be seen on Renault Captur. The 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine delivers 106 PS power and 142 Nm torque and is mated to a 5-speed MT or Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT unit. The 1.5-litre K9K dCi diesel engine delivers 110 PS power and 240 Nm torque. It is mated to 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT.
A unique aspect of Kicks is that it has GRAPHENE Body Structure, which improves durability and offers improved protection against impacts. Other safety and security features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist (BA), rear parking sensors, hill start assist, electronic stability control (ESC) and ISOFIX child mounts. Kicks will also have smart connectivity and driving aids for optimal security and convenience.
Nissan Kicks could be priced in the range of Rs 11-14 lakh. Some dealerships have already started taking unofficial bookings for Kicks. Officially, bookings start from 14th Dec. Below is the detailed interior image gallery. Once launched, it will rival the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.
