Hyundai Creta rival SUV, Nissan Kicks production starts in India – Video

Nissan Kicks SUV will launch in India sometime in January 2019. Ahead of that, the family 5 seater SUV has entered production at the company plant in Chennai. Below are the photo and video of the first ever Nissan Kicks being rolled out of the company plant in Chennai.

New Nissan Kicks boasts of a new design with a stronger and safer body structure. The body is built of Graphine – Gravity-philic Energy Absorption allowing the body to absorb impact energy this ensuring a smoother and safety ride specially in Indian road conditions.

The new Nissan Kicks is designed and developed at the Nissan Design Center and will be produced at the Nissan-Renault plant in Chennai. It will be larger than its global counterpart measuring 4,384 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,656 mm in height. The SUV will get a wheelbase of 2,673 mm and ground clearance of 200 mm.

Its exteriors will be dominated by a new Nissan signature V-Motion grille, new sweptback headlamps, boomerang shaped LED DRLs and a wide central airdam. It will also be seen with a silver chin spoiler, extended cladding on either side, a floating roof in a contrasting colour scheme and twin 5 spoke 17” alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60-section rubber.

The rear section will get sharp LED tail lamps, a sculpted tailgate and larger rear bumper with diffuser. Interiors will be roomier as compared to its global spec model with more technology and connectivity features.

The new Nissan Kicks will be powered by petrol and diesel engine options which have been borrowed from the Nissan Terrano. The 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine will offer 103 bhp power and 245 Nm torque while the 1.5 liter diesel engine will be presented in two states of tune offering 84 bhp and 108 bhp. The petrol engine will get mated to a 5 speed manual or CVT while the diesel engine will be paired with either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed AMT.

Once launched in India in early 2019, the new Nissan Kicks will compete with the 5 seater SUVs in the segment which include Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Tata Harrier.
