UV painted Nissan Leaf glows in the dark
Nissan worked with Hamish Scott, creator of Starpath, a pray-applied coating that absorbs UV energy during the day. It then glows for between 8-10 hours after sun down. Glowing car paint and glow-in-the-dark car wraps are available from third-party companies. The custom ultraviolet-energised Nissan Leaf paint created for Nissan is unique owing to its secret formula made of organic materials. It contains rare natural earth product called Strontium Aluminate, a solid, odourless, and chemically and biologically inert.
Nissan is the first auto manufacturer to directly apply such tech. The paint would last for 25 years. Nissan Leaf owners report significant savings, which in turn encourages the to invest in green alternatives.
Solar panels at home decrease household carbon footprint, owners can charge their electric vehicle for free. Research reveals, 89 pct Leaf owners charge their cars at home overnight. While solar panels do not store energy or function beyond daylight, leftover power generated during the day is fed back into the national grid. As a result, the government makes a payment for it, which means the overnight Nissan Leaf charge is paid for.
