A special edition version of the Nissan Micra hatchback which is called as the March in Brazil has been spied in the country shortly before its launch. The special edition is a nod to Rio Olympics 2016 and it reported to have a limited production run of 1,000 units.

Spotting of several special edition cars strongly indicate that launch is just a few weeks away. The March┬áRio 2016 is basically a kitted up version of the top-of-line SL variant. The visual add-ons at the front include smoked headlamps and sporty front chin with orange accents on the edges and “Rio2016” sticker in the middle.

Rear fascia gets smoked taillights and a diffuser with orange accents.

The grille gets a small badge featuring the serial number of the limited edition model, roof sports black finish and the profile gains glossy black alloy wheels and skirts with Rio2016 stickers. At the rear, the March Rio 2016 can be identified by means of smoked taillights and a body colored diffuser with orange accents and a special badge.

The Nissan March Rio 2016 edition is limited to 1,000 units and is likely to go on sale in Brazil next month.

Inside, the March Rio 2016 is equipped with a touchscreen Nissan Connect infotainment system, reverse camera with perimeter alarm, piano black centre console and automatic climate control system.

The limited edition is based on the 1.6-litre SV variant.

The Nissan March Rio 2016 is powered by a 1.6-litre flex fuel engine which produces 111 PS and 148 Nm of torque while running on ethanol. Transmission is a 5-speed manual unit.

The Nissan Micra is approaching the end of product life cycle and the next gen model is in the advanced stages of development. The Micra successor or Europe and India would be based on different platforms. Production of the former will shift from Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Chennai plant to Renault’s Flins plant in France.
