Nissan Motor India fiscal sales up, March 2015 down

Nissan Motor India has registered 24.2 pct increase in sales between FY13 and FY14 thereby resulting in the company being positioned among top 3 gainers in terms of growth rate. Nissan sales in India increased from 38,220 units in FY13 to 47,474 units in FY14. While fiscal performance stands improved, Nissan India sales for March 2015 stood at 4,717 units (PY 7,031 units), equating to 32.91 pct decline. The company has made significant progress in the past fiscal with independent sales and market organisation.

Growth could be attributed to launch of two new models and expansion of dealership network in India. The company now gears up for further expansion, and market share of 5 pct by FY20. Sales network comprises 176 outlets with 60 new outlets added to establish growing retail presence at 61 pct growth in FY14. Nissan Motor India has also initiated innovative campaigns to draw attention to its vehicle range.

Nissan Motor India unveiled the Patrol SUV and Leaf EV at the Carnival held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida last month. Patrol SUV and all electric Leaf hatchback were brought to India specially for the occasion to give viewers, select customers and auto enthusiasts a hands on experience of Nissan’s expansive range of cars. In India, the auto manufacturer sells sells Micra active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano, and Go and Go+ under its Datsun brand across six vehicle segments.
