Nissan is currently one of the least selling car brands in the country

With sales of Nissan in India at all time low, the company has no plans to give up. In fact, the company is getting ready for new launches. Today, Nissan officially confirmed the launch of new Kicks, which will take place soon after the lockdown ends.

New Nissan Kicks MY 2020 was spied on test near Pune earlier this year. It was being homologated by ARAI. Launch was expected to take place by March 2020, but due to country-wide lockdown, the plans got delayed. With lockdown plans about to ease, Nissan India is hopeful that they will be able to launch their new Kicks SUV soon.

Powering the 2020 Kicks is an all new 1.3 liter turbocharged petrol engine, which will deliver 156 PS and 254 Nm – making it the most powerful SUV in the segment – even more powerful than the new Hyundai Creta 1.4 L turbo and Kia Seltos GT 1.4 turbo. The turbo engine on the Creta and Seltos delivers 140 PS and 242 Nm.

Speaking about the engine, Nissan says that their 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine is BS6 compliant. Called HR13 DDT engine, it uses state of the art cylinder coating technology. Nissan says that this tech has been borrowed from their GT-R’s engine. Thanks to this tech, engine not only offers better performance, but also offers more fuel efficiency.

The New Nissan KICKS is powered by best-in-class turbo engine and best-in-class X-tronic CVT offering higher fuel economy and acceleration.”

The turbo engine will be mated to X-Tronic CVT gearbox. Nissan claims that this is the best performing AT in its class. The X-tronic CVT offers an eight-step M mode which provides MT like experience at choice. The next generation Nissan X-tronic CVT offers 40% less friction contributing to higher fuel economy and acceleration response.

Speaking about the design, it is expected to be more or less similar to the current Kicks BS4, with minor changes. The Facelifted Nissan Kicks which was recently spied in Thailand, is not expected to come to India anytime soon.

Nissan says that the new Kicks will be a complete vehicle package with an exceptional combination of Intelligent Technology and class-leading premium-ness. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti S-Cross, etc in the Rs 10-16 lakh range.
