10 Best new car discounts for Oct 2018 – Renault Duster to Nissan Terrano

Navaratri to Diwali, a period considered the most auspicious for making new car purchases, sees a host of new car buyers make a bee line for company showrooms across the country. In view of these increased sales, auto companies, through their dealers are offering discounts on a number of car models. We bring you a list of 11 such car models that can be bought at discounts of Rs 1-2 lakhs.

Nissan Terrano – Festive discounts on the Nissan Terrano include a direct cash discount of INR 45,000, special discount for Government employees of INR 10,000 and free first year insurance amounting to INR 62,113 on the top end variant. Nissan is also planning to stop production of the Terrano in India. The Terrano was launched in India in early 2013 and will soon be replaced by the Nissan Kicks SUV which will be presented in three variants – XL, XE and XV. Nissan Terrano sales have dwindled to just two figures in the past few months with 65 units sold in July and 71 units sold in August 2018.

Hyundai Xcent – With discounts worth INR 1 lakh, Hyundai wishes to push forth sales of the Xcent during the festive season. These discounts include INR 40,000 cash discount, INR 45,000 exchange bonus and INR 5,000 corporate discount. The Xcent averages monthly sales of 3,990 units and is priced from INR 5.63 – 8.61 lakhs. The Hyundai Xcent sedan is presented in 6 petrol and 5 diesel engine options and in 5 color options of Marina Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Star Dust and Wine Red.

SsangYong Rexton – This mid-sized SUV is being cleared out of company showrooms prior to the launch of an all new model slated for launch next month. Mahindra dealers are offering discounts to the tune of Rs 3 lakhs on the current Rexton which is priced from INR 21.90 – 25.90 lakhs. The new Rexton will sport a Mahindra badge and new model could launch in India at a starting price of about INR 24 lakhs making it Mahindra’s most expensive car in its lineup. The new Mahindra Rexton will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X.

Hyundai Tucson – The five seater Hyundai Tucson, priced from INR 21.08 – 29.78 lakhs, is being offered at discounts worth INR 1.75 lakhs ahead of the festive season in India. These discounts include an exchange bonus of INR 30,000, corporate discount of INR 50,000 and free first year insurance worth INR 92,720. The company sells an average of 164 units of the Hyundai Tucson each month and these discounts are to boost sales specially during the festive period. The Tucson is offered in a total of five variants, two engine and two transmission options and competes with the Honda CR-V, VW Tiguan and the Jeep Compass.

Renault Duster – Renault Duster, which is priced from INR 7.95-12.83 lakhs and averaging 1,006 unit sales per month, is being offered by the company dealers at a discount. This includes a cash discount of INR 60,000 on the 110PS variant while buyers are also offered free 1st year insurance worth INR 40,831. Renault Duster once ruled the space in the crossover SUV segment but was overthrown with launch of the Ford EcoSport while Hyundai Creta came in later to offer added competition. Offered in 10 diesel and 2 petrol variants, the Renault Duster also has the S-Cross and Nissan Terrano to contend with.

Honda BR-V – Honda BR-V, the 7 seater compact SUV based on the Mobilio platform can be had at a festive discount upto INR 1 lakh. These discounts and benefits include an exchange bonus of INR 50,000, along with free accessories and first year free insurance. Honda BR-V sales average at only 615 units per month. It is offered in a total of 8 variants all priced between INR 9.45-13.78 lakhs and gets its power via a 1.5 litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. It rivals the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Honda has also launched BR-V Style Edition in India ahead of the 2018 festive season.

Renault Captur – Now is the best time for those planning to buy the Renault Captur as the company is offered discounts of over INR 2 lakhs. These lucrative discounts are for a limited period only as the company wishes to cash in on the festive season. Renault Captur has not seen much demand in India. Monthly average sales stand at just 351 units. Renault Captur is priced from INR 9.99 lakhs for the base RXE variant going up to INR 13.88 lakhs for the Platine variant. It is positioned on the Duster platform and competes with the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Terrano.

Toyota Corolla Altis – Toyota Corolla Altis, the best selling D segment sedan is being offered with special festive benefits to the tune of INR 1 lakh. These include a cash discount of INR 35,000, exchange bonus of INR 20,000 and corporate cash discount of INR 45,000. Corolla Altis competes with the Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra in its class and is priced from INR 16.27-20.0 lakhs. The facelifted model was launched in March 2017 and is seen with refreshed features while it gets powered by 1.8 liter petrol and 1.4 liter diesel engines.

Maruti WagonR – The current generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR will soon be replaced by a new model in early 2019. In view of this upcoming model and to cash in on higher sales this festive season, the company is offering discounts to buyers. WagonR, priced from INR 4.31-5.51 lakhs can be had at a discount upto INR 1 lakh which is offered on the top spec VX+ model. The cash discount amounts to INR 60,000 while exchange bonus is at INR 35,000 along with a corporate discount of INR 5,100. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is powered by a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder, petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual and AMT returning mileage of 20.5 kmpl. Sales of this model average at 12,291 units per month.

Volkswagen Vento – Volkswagen is offering a discount to the tune of INR 1 lakh on the Vento family sedan. This offer includes a direct cash discount of INR 60,000 and exchange bonus of INR 40,000. Volkswagen Vento is offered in four variants and three engine options and is a well built family sedan offering both comfort and strong engine performance. It is powered by 1.5-litre TDI diesel, 1.6-litre MPI and 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine options while prices start at INR 8.19 lakhs.

Honda CR-V Honda Cars India recently launched the 5th generation CR-V in India and is hence eager to clear stocks of the older version out of company showrooms. A cash discount of INR 1.5 lakhs is on offer for buyers of the older model. Honda CR-V averages sales of less than 19 units per month and it is hoped that the new version will bring in more sales with its added features, new 7 seater layout for the first time and new technology. It gets 1.6 liter diesel and 2.0 liter petrol engine options. It will continue to compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan in its class.
