Nissan has taken the wraps off the latest model of Terrano where it was seen as a smart and rugged SUV based on the much loved Renault Duster. Prebookings commence from 1st September 2013. Bollywood director Kabir Khan displayed the model simulating three situations which showcase the SUV’s resourcefulness be it in cityscape, campsite or at a luxury resort.
Based on the same BO platform as seen on the Dacia Duster, the Terrano is Nissan’s fourth vehicle to be produced from the joint plant with Renault at Oragadam, Chennai, where it is to be built alongside the Micra, Sunny and Evalia.
Competing loosely with Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto, Terrano will be sold in India and other developing markets.
Exterior highlights include sharp headlights with four pod design, angled grille, colored roof rails and silver finished skid plates. Interiors are resplendent in silver finished accents, air conditioning and glossy piano black center console. The Terrano shares the same engine as the Duster which includes a 1.6 liter four cylinder petrol and a 1.5 liter diesel. Also to be offered like the Duster as a two and four wheel drive, the Indian spec model will be offered only with manual transmission as against its European counterpart which gets an automatic transmission as well.
