The Norwegian Joy, an uber luxury cruise ship owned by Norwegian Cruise Line which is ready to set sail in the summer of 2017, has a novelty on board in the form of a go-kart race track. In the present days, you can add pretty much everything on board a cruise liner if the money is no bar.

A computer generated image of the first ever race track on sea has been released, giving us an idea about its layout. The two-level circuit has decent elevations and a set of tight, technical u-turns. The track appears to be wide enough for two go-karts to have a wheel-to-wheel combat.

The Norwegian Joy is a massive cruise liner which weights 168,000 tonne and has 20 decks. The leviathan is 1,069 feet long and can accommodate 4,200 passengers and 1,700 crew members. In addition to the sprawling go-kart race track, the majestic vessel also houses bumper-car pad, simulators, two casinos, luxury retail outlets and a 360-foot water slide.

The ship also sports 74 uber-luxury suites called The Haven complete with personal butler service, private lounges, pools, dining areas and an exclusive casino (the third one).

The Norwegian Joy will ply between Shanghai and Beijing but detailed itineraries have not been published yet. Racing a go-kart on a gently rocking ship should make for a unique experience.
