Old-gen Honda City, Jazz, Civic, Accord recalled in India to replace airbag inflators

As part of a global recall campaign, Honda Cars India announced yet another voluntary recall today. The latest recall will affect a total of 41,580 cars. All the affected cars are old generation variants, and none of them are on sale as of today as they have been replaced by new generation variants.

Latest Honda car recall has affected old generation variants of Accord, Civic, City and Jazz. The recall will replace Takata passenger front airbag inflators in all affected cars. Due to the same fault, Honda Cars India have recalled over 2.5 lakh cars till now.

Old generation Honda City is the most affected. 32,456 of Honda City have been recalled. Then comes Honda Jazz, of which 7,265 units have been recalled. 1,200 units of Honda Civic have been recalled, and 659 units of Honda Accord have been recalled.

Honda says that the replacement will be carried out free of cost at all authorized dealerships in a phased manner. First, HCIL will be fixing the airbag inflators of affected CR-Vs and Civic, followed by City, Jazz and Accord. Those customers whose cars have been affected by this recall, the company will communicate with customers directly.

The customers can check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website (www.hondacarindia.com).
