New Toyota Innova Crysta and old car spied

The 7-seater features a vastly improved interior.

The old and new Toyota Innova models have been spotted alongside each other at a dealer yard in Mumbai. The new gen model which is called as Innova Crysta is expected to go on sale on May 2. The product brochure also has emerged online.

As you can see, there are drastic differences between the two generations although the dimensions are in the same ballpark. The contrast is even stark on the inside as the Crysta moves several notches up the market.

The fully-loaded variant offers 7-airbags.

Based on the IMV (International Multi-Purpose Vehicle) platform which also underpins the new gen Fortuner and Hilux, the new Innova Crysta features new GD family of diesel engines displacing 2.4- and 2.8-litre. The smaller unit is good for 150 PS and 343 Nm of torque while the range-topping unit belts out 174 PS and 360 Nm of torque. 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic are the transmission options.

The MPV gets 2.4- and 2.8-litre diesel engine options.

The leaked brochure reveals that the Innova Crysta will pack several premium features like 7-airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, LED projector headlamps, Automatic climate control with rear auto AC, 1 touch tumble&space-up rear seats, easy slide front passenger seat, Eco and Power drive modes, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered driver seat, button start, ambient lighting and so on.

New Innova Crysta specs

The Toyota Innova Crysta is expected to cost significantly higher than the outgoing model. The premium family MPV has no direct rival as of now.
