Perodua has also unveiled front fascia of Special Edition (SE) version of Axia hatchback. The company is set to launch Axia soon and has disclosed almost all details there is to know about the upcoming city car. Perodua Axia is based on Daihatsu Ayla or Toyota Agya designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu in Indonesia, and also sold in Philippines as Toyota Wigo.
External dimensions of Axia are 3,640 x 1,620 x 1,510 mm (length x width x height), whereas Daihatsu Ayla measures 3,580 x 1,600 x 1,510 mm, with 2,450mm wheelbase. Wheelbase of Perodua Axia is not revealed yet; it could be same as Ayla’s. Turning radius of Axia is 4.5 metres.
There is only one engine powering Perodua Axia, all-aluminium 1KR-DE2 1.0 litre petrol engine producing 66 hp at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm at 3,600 rpm.
There are two transmission options; a five-speed manual and a four-speed 4 E-AT auto transmission. Variant with former setup is claimed to offer 21.6 kmpl mileage (in ECO mode) while Axia with latter is declared to deliver 20.1 kmpl.
Perodua Axia will be available in four variants, E, G, Special Edition (SE) and Advance (AV). E variant will feature 14-inch steel wheels, LED rear combination lamps, vanity mirror for driver, body coloured bumpers, painted door handles, power windows, Electronic Power Steering (EPS), fabric seats, immobiliser, ECO Drive indicator (fuel efficiency coach) and Dual airbags (driver and passenger). Tentative price of Perodua Axia E variant is RM24,900 (Rs. 4.80 lakhs approx.) with solid paint and RM25,300 (Rs. 4.88 lakhs approx.) with metallic paint.
G variant of Perodua Axia will come with 14-inch alloy wheels, remote control with entry and alarm features, reverse assist sensors, electronically adjustable side mirrors (foldable), rear wiper & defogger, CD player with four speakers, driver seat height adjuster, seat hook on back of front passenger seat, parcel tray, tissue compartment for rear seats, coin box / multipurpose container, Isofix mounts for child seat and seat belt warning buzzer. Following are expected prices of Perodua Axia G variant:

Special Edition Perodua Axia will equip projector headlamps, fog lamps, SE bodykit with aero bumpers, side skirting and rear spoiler, front parking sensors, chrome front grille, audio head unit with CD, MP3 and Bluetooth support, painted door armrest, fabric door trim, semi-bucket seats, silver and chrome interior finish, separated rear headrest, gear lever knob with ‘ornament’, handbrake rod with ‘ornament’
ABS, EBD & brake assist, and security tint film. Perodua Axia SE would cost:

Top end Perodua Axia Advance version will feature four-speed automatic transmission only. Apart from features seen in SE variant, AV gets Touchscreen multimedia audio system with DVD, Bluetooth and GPS, lather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. Expected prices of Perodua Axia AV are:

Perodua Axia is said to have four-star ASEAN NCAP rating, which indicates that the car has undergone crash tests at MIROS’s PC3 facility in Melaka.
