Peugeot 2008 the new compact SUV has been officially unveiled. It is slated to debut at the 2013 Geneva motor Show to be held in March this year. Peugeot 2008 has been designed to keep pace with changing times and will suit buyers from Europe, China and South America. The car will be manufactured in Alsace (France), Wuhan (China) and Porto Real (Brazil) for their respective car markets.
Driving characteristics of a hatchback and ruggedness of a SUV are some of the characteristics of this new model from Peugeot. The 2008 is over 200 mm longer than the 208 and comes close in matching structure of the Nissan Juke. Traditional design styles like C-shaped taillights and a floating grille structure are incorporated within this model that also boasts of 17” alloy wheels and impressive cladding designed to provide a macho rugged look to the car. It also has an option of a panoramic glass panel.
The car will be powered by an e-HDi diesel engine and a four cylinder petrol variant. Innovative technology used within the Peugeot 2008 will allow for lowered carbon emission of 99 gm CO2/km making it one of the cleanest vehicles. It will also be equipped with Peugeots Grip Control system which will make handling of this vehicle easier and smooth. To be launched this summer Peugeot 2008 will boast of a price tag between £13,000-£18,000.
Though, Peugeot’s plans for India are still not confirmed, in Brazil, this new SUV will compete with the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Duster is already launched in India, EcoSport is about to arrive, whereas, plans to launch Peugeot in the country have been postponed as of now. For more information, scroll down.
