Pininfarina planning an electric sportscar for Mahindra

Italian design firm Pininfarina which is currently under the ownership of Tech Mahindra is reported to come up with an electric sportscar. Such a proposition will serve as a massive boost to the parent company’s quest to take its electric mobility business model to the next phase.

Given that Mahindra also owns a Formula E racing team, the advanced electric powertrain technologies could be married to Pininfarina’s striking design to create an attractive high-performance green sportscar. Talking to Autocar, Pravin Shah, president and chief executive of Mahindra’s auto sector stated that the company will be able to differentiate itself in the auto industry with the help of Pininfarina and Tech Mahindra.

An electric version of H2 Speed hydrogen sportscar concept would be an attractive proposition.

An electric sportscar from Pininfarina would be marketed by Mahindra Reva. There is no concrete information about such a product as of now but something like the Pininfarina H2 Speed concept which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show would be a tempting proposition.

In addition to an electric sportscar, Pininfarina is expected to be involved in designing the upcoming Mahindra cars. The design firm will team up with Tech Mahindra to offer great designs and critical engineering work for automakers to benefit from.
