Porsche first introduced the 911 back in 1963, but as a coupe. The open top, semi convertible variant came in 1967. This was called 911 Targa. Targa in Italian means ‘plate’. It is a registered trademark of Porsche AG, and is derived from a sports car race in Sicily called Targa Florio, where Porsche had notable success.
Featuring the iconic fixed roof, in the most advanced format yet, Porsche 911 Targa seventh generation was launched in India today. Offered in two options – 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S, price starts from Rs 1.59 crores and Rs 1.78 crores respectively, ex-showroom New Delhi. Both these cars are now available across exclusive Porsche dealerships in India.
Power to the 911 Targa 4 comes from a 3.4 litre inline 6, generating 350 hp and 390 Nm torque. The 4S comes with a 3.8 inline 6 generating 400 hp and 440 Nm torque. Both machines are mated to latest 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. When equipped with a Sport Chrono package, the Targa 4 does 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and the 4S does the same in 4.4 seconds. They have a top speed of 282 kmph and 296 kmph respectively. Additionally, if you want more power, you can opt for the Carerra S Powerkit. This will boost power by 30 hp. Sadly, this is only on offer for Targa 4S.
