Premium Hatchback Discounts Compared – Baleno, i20, Polo, Glanza, Freestyle, Altroz

Aiming to boost sales, carmakers continue to offer attractive discounts and benefits to customers

In the premium hatchback segment, most cars are available with cash discount, exchange offer and corporate discount in July 2020. Dealer level benefits may also be on offer on certain products. Here’s how the premium hatchbacks fare in terms of applicable discounts and benefits.

Premium hatchback discounts

Volkswagen Polo – Offers for Polo 1.2 BS6 variant include Rs 17.5k cash discount, Rs 20k exchange bonus and up to Rs 5k corporate discount. Polo 1.0 Turbo variant gets the same offer with the only difference that cash discount is Rs 13.2k. A popular choice in this space, Polo was the fourth bestselling premium hatchback in Q2 2020 with sale sales of 2354 units.

Maruti Baleno – The segment leader, Maruti Baleno discount offers for Sigma variant include Rs 15k cash discount, Rs 15k exchange bonus and Rs 5k corporate discount. Baleno Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims get the same offer, albeit cash discount is only Rs 10k. Baleno had registered sales of 5887 units in Q2 2020.

Hyundai Elite i20 – Total benefits on Hyundai Elite i20 BS6 are worth Rs 35k. It includes Rs 15k cash, Rs 15k exchange bonus and Rs 5k corporate discount. In Q2 2020, i20 was the third bestselling premium hatchback with sales of 3596 units. Its sales have dipped in recent times, which is largely due to the anticipated launch of next-gen i20.

Toyota Glanza – Total benefits are worth Rs 35k, which includes Rs 15k consumer offer, Rs 15k exchange bonus and Rs 5k corporate discount. A rebadged version of Maruti Baleno, Glanza recently crossed the 25k sales milestone within 12 months of its launch.

Ford Freestyle – BS6 variant of Freestyle was launched earlier this year in February at discounted prices. That leaves little scope for discount offers. Although there are no direct offers from Ford, customers can check with their nearest dealer. It is possible that dealer level discount may be available on Ford Freestyle. For example, specific dealerships in Delhi-NCR are offering a range of benefits on Freestyle. These include Rs 20k cash discount, Rs 15k exchange bonus for used Ford car, Rs 7k exchange bonus for non-Ford car, up to Rs 6k corporate discount, and discount on insurance premium.
