At the ongoing 2025 Auto Expo, Tata Motors has just unveiled the production-spec versions of Harrier EV and Sierra EV. Alongside them, Tata also debuted Avinya X Concept, which bears an SUV design, unlike the previous Avinya Concept, which had a wagon design. With the Avinya X Concept, the company showcased its future design and innovation path.
Harrier EV
Set to launch in India soon, Harrier EV will be the embodiment of Tata’s relentless pursuit to excel in SUV space. It may spawn a 7-seater version in the form of Safari EV later on. Where design is concerned, Harrier EV doesn’t look different to what was showcased in previous instances.
It gets a unique fascia with a closed-off grill, setting a distinct identity of its own. Being the flagship SUVs from Tata Motors, there is an uproar of features with Harrier EV. The company demonstrated “Summon Mode” with Harrier EV at 2025 Auto Expo, where it drove itself to the stage without any driver inside.
Where performance is concerned, there is a massive shift in strategies. With its ICE line, Tata flagship SUVs were more conservative in performance department (on paper). However, that’s changed with Tata’s flagship EVs where Harrier EV is promised to come with dual motors with a combined 500 Nm torque.
The company is promising good off-road capabilities as well. Harrier EV will get what company calls QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) and is likely to boast an immediate edge over the recently launched EV rivals from Mahindra. Launch timeline is not yet out, but 2025 seems to be the year when Harrier EV will hit the road.
Sierra EV
Alongside Harrier EV, Tata Motors also showcased Sierra EV, which looked striking and bright in a lovely Yellow shade, similar to the one launched with 2025 Tiago EV. As opposed to the previous appearances, Sierra EV now seems to be production-spec as it bears a new fascia, while side and rear appear vastly unchanged.
The new fascia has more black elements that cut down on visual bulk and give it a new look entirely. Where powertrains are concerned, Tata didn’t reveal much, but we can expect the same powertrains as Harrier EV. This could very well be the most talked about lifestyle SUV when launched.
Avinya X Concept
Unlike the previous Avinya concept with a Wagon silhouette showcased a couple of years ago, the new Avinya X concept bears an SUV design. One that is striking, futuristic and sophisticated to look at. We can see some semblances with Range Rover Velar, but less minimal in design. As revealed before, Avinya line comprises of three vehicles with distinct body shapes. The Wagon was already revealed and now we got to see the SUV.
