Spotted on test without any camouflage in Turkey, from where sales of the Fiat Egea will commence in November this year, the Fiat Egea bears strong similarity to the Aegea concept. It measures 4,500 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,480 mm tall. It sits on a wheelbase measuring 2,640mm while boot capacity stands at 510 liters.
Fiat Egea boasts of striking interiors and a flowing dashboard with silver accents and buttons, HVAC vents and 3 spoke steering wheel. Infotainment features include Uconnect system with 5” color touchscreen display, automatic climate controls and Bluetooth connectivity.
The new Fiat Egea sedan continues to be powered by the same engine lineup seen on its concept format. These include a 1.4 liter FIRE petrol engine offering 95 PS power, 1.6 E torQ offering 110 hp, 1.3 liter Multijet II capable of 95 PS power and 1.6 liter Multijet II offering 120 hp power. All engines are mated to 6 speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Fiat Egea will be produced from the Fiat Tofas plant in Turkey, from where it will be exported to 40 countries across the globe to also include Africa and Middle East. In all these markets, the Egea will replace the ageing Linea sedan. In India, Fiat plans to manufacture the Egea locally. If all goes well, it will be launched here by 2017.
