Proton registered the name Iriz with Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) on 15th of August 2014, which is strongly believed to be the name of their upcoming Compact Car (PCC). Proton GSC was codenamed Proton P2-30A.
From spy shots seen thus far featuring PCC testing in snow-covered European and Malaysian roads, size of what would be Proton Iriz could not be judged. From latest spy shots courtesy of paultan.org, we are now able to picture the dimensions of PCC as it is caught on frame with a previous generation Honda Jazz Hybrid. Both look about the same size, indicating that GSC will be a sizeable offering by Proton and same can be said about its cabin spaciousness too.
We recently learned that the B segment 5 door hatchback from Proton will receive all new 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre VVT petrol engines. Concerning safety of the Global Compact Car, it will equip ABS, ESC and six airbags, and carry five-star ASEAN NCAP and ANCAP crash test ratings.
Similar trademark document confirms one of future Proton Compact Car models to be named Aero. Thus far no news about a future car is out, so we are yet to see what exactly will wear the Aero badge.
