Law enforcement agencies across India are increasingly turning to high-performance motorcycles to improve mobility and emergency response, and Pune has taken a significant step in that direction. On January 12, 2026, the Pune Police, along with Pimpri-Chinchwad Police and Pune Rural Police, inducted a fleet of 100 specially customised Bajaj Dominar 400 motorcycles to strengthen patrolling efficiency and rapid response capabilities across urban and rural areas.
Fleet to Serve Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Rural Regions
Manufactured by Bajaj Auto Ltd, these police-spec Dominar 400 motorcycles have been purpose-built to meet the demanding requirements of modern law enforcement. Designed for speed, stability and endurance, the fleet is expected to play a key role in maintaining law and order while enabling quicker response during emergencies across Pune’s diverse terrain.
Police-Spec Dominar 400: Key Modifications and Features
The Bajaj Dominar 400, powered by a 373.3cc liquid-cooled engine, is well known for its strong performance and long-distance capability. For police duty, the motorcycle has been extensively modified with advanced safety and communication equipment. Each unit is equipped with LED emergency lights, sirens and a public address (PA) system, allowing officers to manage traffic situations and respond effectively during high-pressure operations. Dual-channel ABS further enhances braking confidence and rider safety.
Beyond visibility and safety upgrades, the police-spec Dominar 400 also integrates modern technology to support daily operations. Features such as GPS tracking systems and charging points for essential devices like mobile phones and walkie-talkies have been added. Every motorcycle is also fitted with an emergency first-aid kit, underlining its role as a first responder vehicle. Practicality has been enhanced through lockable side panniers and a top box, enabling officers to carry equipment such as first-aid supplies, documents and other essential gear.

First Deployed During Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026
Before being deployed for regular law enforcement duties, the newly inducted motorcycles will form part of the official convoy for the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, scheduled between January 19 and January 23, covering a distance of 437 km. Following this event, the bikes will be allocated across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune Rural Police departments for day-to-day operations. With extensive road infrastructure upgrades carried out in the district over the past few months, the addition of these high-performance motorcycles is expected to significantly enhance policing efficiency.

The induction ceremony was held at the Pune Police Ground in Shivajinagar in the presence of senior officials, including Pune Police, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police and Pune Rural Police, along with several civic administrators. With their blend of performance, technology and safety-focused upgrades, the customised Bajaj Dominar 400 motorcycles are expected to become a vital asset in strengthening Pune’s rapid emergency response system.
