Watch in awe as Range Rover Sport aces the Dragon Challenge climb

The SUV was equipped with reinforced tyres to handle the stairway.

Jaguar Land Rover is no stranger to pulling off awesome stunts to promote their products. The last few world premieres by Jaguar were absolute spectacles. This latest Dragon Challenge stunt performed by the 2018 Range Rover Sport takes things to a next level.

The stunt was performed at the Tianmen mountain in China whose main attraction is the natural hole (measuring 131.5 metres in height) called the Heaven’s Gate. Reaching the Heaven’s Gate requires a drive along the extremely challenging 11 km strip of unforgiving mountain road with 99 turns and an even more challenging 45-degree ascent which comprises 999 steps.

Taking on the 99 turns and getting to the base of the steep stairway isn’t really a hard task for an SUV as accomplished as the Range Rover Sport but conquering the 999 steps – we would like to reiterate the fact that stairway is extremely steep with a slope of 45 degrees – needs some truly heroic stuff from the driver as well as the machine.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing Formula E team’s driver Ho-Pin Tung was given the honor of executing the stunt and boy did he reach the Heaven’s Gate in style! We would rather let you watch the video and sink in the sheer magnificence of the entire operation than trying to put it into words!
