2013 Range Rover India launch today: Awarded a 5 star rating by Euro NCAP


Jaguar Land Rover India gets ready to launch the all new 2013 Range Rover SUV in the country today. In India, the new 4th gen Range Rover will arrive with a choice of diesel and petrol V8 variants. New Range Rover will not be offered with diesel V6 in Indian auto industry.

Meanwhile, Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) has released results of 15 cars which have all received five star ratings besides the Dacia Lodgy which received a three star rating. These vehicles are the Fiat 500L, Mitsubishi Outlander, Opel Mokka, Ford Fiesta, Ford Kuga, Hyundai Santa Fe, SEAT Leon, Skoda Rapid, SEAT Toledo, Subaru Forester, Mercedes Benz A Class and the new Range Rover.

Range Rover received a five star rating at the recent crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP. The new Range Rover was put to a front impact test, side barrier test, side pole test, pedestrian protection, and child and adult protection. This is the second vehicle after the Range Rover Evoque which had received the same results in 2011. Range Rover received one of the highest ever scores where pedestrian protection was concerned and this was something that the company was very proud of.

Range Rover 2013 model was presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show earlier this year. When put to test by Euro NCAP, Range Rover 2013 received 15.2p in the front impact test, 8p in side impact and 7.3p in side pole impact while the model was put to test for infant and child protection at which it received 12.0p and 11.1p respectively. Range Rover also scored 63% in pedestrian protection and 86% in safety assist.
