RM Auctions will be auctioning one of the most sought after classic sports cars on January 18, 2013 in Arizona. This rare Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione is the 17th model in range of 74 ever made from the 1960 range. This legendary sportscar in question, has had four owners in the past 52 years. It is still capable of reaching a speed over and above the 150 mph mark.
Expected to fetch a price of £4 million ($6.44 million or Rs 35.40 crores), the auction house has not publicly revealed the car’s estimated value only saying that it is one of the finest in its class. A similar model was sold in 2011 for a price of £3.1 million but price expectations have risen specially with an enhanced interest in the market for classic Ferrari models.
The rare Ferrari GT250GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione is also known as chassis 1905 GT and possesses a three liter V12 engine offering 280 bhp. It was designed by Italian designers Pininfarina and can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds while reaching a top speed of 150 mph.
Apart from this an ultra rare 1965 Ford GT will also be on the stand. According to Ford, “the GT40 is not just significant for its racing supremacy over Ferrari’s dominant Scuderia, but also for its revolutionary and aesthetically appealing mid/rear-engine design, a layout that would eventually become the hallmark of any fearsome exotic supercar.”
