Maruti Suzuki Car Care Mantras – To protect your car during Lockdown

Maruti Suzuki is extending the warranty and free service period falling from March 15, 2020 to April 30, 2020 upto June 30, 2020

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lock-down spanning all across India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has offered tips to its customers on how to look after and protect their cars during this period. This information was sent to customers via 25 million SMSs instructing them on battery and car protection during the lock-down period.

The company advises owners to start their vehicles and keep it in running mode at least for 15 minutes once a month. This will maintain the battery in good condition. Maruti Suzuki also states that for Smart Hybrid vehicles with Lithium ion battery, the vehicle should be kept running with head lights on for 30 minutes once a month.

In case the vehicle does not start after the first or second attempt, owners are advised not to crank the engine for more than 12 seconds at a time. They have also been told not to race the engine at such times as this could cause damage. The engine kept in idle rpm will enable the engine oil to spread all around and lubricate the entire engine.

Fans and AC belts along with all rubber parts should be attended to and the AC should be kept running for around 1 minute. Once this is all done, the owner is advised to switch off all lights and accessories so as to maintain the battery while tyres should also be kept well inflated with the right amount of air pressure.

On starting the car, the company advises that while there may be some initial brake noise, slow driving with intermittent braking could ease the issue. Engine oil and coolant levels along with brake and clutch fluids should be checked for any leakage.

Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has extended the free service and warranty which was scheduled to end between March 15-30, 2020. This period has now being extended up to June 30, 2020.

The company is also doing all in its capacity to safe guard the interests of their workers, business partners and customers and offering support the Central and State Governments in the fight of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maruti Suzuki has entered into an agreement with AgVa Healthcare for the production of ventilators with an intention to reach around 10,000 units per month. The company’s alliance with Krishna Maruti Limited is for the manufacture of three ply masks while its contract with Bharat Seats is for the manufacture of protective clothing.
