New Renault compact car global premiere: Watch LIVE webcast here

This is only an unveil, launch of this new Renault small car is scheduled for later this year.

New Renault compact car is an entry-level hatchback, codenamed XBA as on date. Based on Renault’s new Common Module Family (CMF-A) platform, this new compact car will compete with the likes of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon.

Rumoured to be named Renault Kayou (meaning commute in Japanese) will sport a 0.8 liter three cylinder petrol engine. This new engine expected to produce 50 bhp peak power and 90 Nm peak torque. It will sport a twin cam, and four valves per cylinder. Thoroughly developed keeping in mind the needs of entry level car buyers, the engine will be highly fuel efficient. Official mileage figures are expected to be revealed tomorrow. Apart from a manual transmission option, AMT option is also on the cards.

Where design and features onboard the Renault Kayou are concerned, one can be sure to see a bold design with host of technologies. To keep prices competitive, Renault has included many cost saving features. This includes a single wiper blade for its front windshield and plastic rear view mirrors.

New Renault compact car will be produced from the Renault Nissan India plant in Oragadam, Chennai. It will be a global model and will be sold in European markets, but under the Dacia badge.

LIVE streaming of the global premiere is scheduled to commence from 11 AM today. At the event, Mr Carlos Ghosn, Charman and CEO, Renault Nissan will be present. You can witness the same in the video feed below.
