To be offered with only the top end diesel 110 PS variant, Duster 4×4 launch is expected to give a boost to its sales, which have registered a decline recently. First launched back in July 2012 with petrol and diesel engine options, the last few months saw Duster sales average at about 3,500 units, as compared to the earlier average of over 5,000 units.
The decline in sales is because of a decline in buyer sentiment which is currently experienced by entire Indian auto industry. But this is soon expected to change. With a stable government now in power, car manufacturers including Renault have planned a series of new launches and aggressive growth plans for the coming years.
Renault Duster 4×4 will be a part of this plan. To be manufactured at Renaul-Nissan plant in Chennai, the new Duster 4×4 is already being manufactured, but only for exports. In the UK, the Duster 4×4 is priced at about £14,995. In India, expect it to be priced at about Rs 13 lakhs, which is Rs 1+ lakhs more than the 4×2 110 PS diesel variant.
Globally, Renault has sold more than 10 lakh Duster SUVs till date, of which , India has contributed over 1 lakh units while France has its tally at 1.5 lakh units
