Renault is all set to announce the launching of Renault Duster Dakar Edition for the Brazilian market. Though the special edition model gets the rally SUV inspired elements, it’s a purely cosmetic exercise.
It will be powered by 1.6- and 2.0-litre flex-fuel engines that are mated to either to a manual or an automatic transmission, driving the front wheels. The 2.0-litre variant can also be had with a 4WD system.
Duster Dakar Edition gets a “Dakar Rally” logo on the front door while the lower part of the doors carry a decal representing the map of the popular rally. It sits on 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with black glossy finish and sports black plastic inserts on the bumpers. The car will be offered in White Neige, Silver Etoile, Nacre Black and Brown Safari exterior color options.
To be available in the Dynamquie variant, the special edition Duster offers parking sensors, 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, Dakar Rally branded seat covers, a 4 speaker audio system with AUX USB and Bluetooth. It also comes with features like Eco Coaching and Eco Scoring that are aimed at inculcating economic driving habits in the drivers.
In the Indian market, sales of Renault Duster have declined considerably due to the growing competition. So the French automaker is ready to launch the Duster facelift anytime soon. The new car will be coming with an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The Duster facelift will priced competitively due to the high level of localisation of the parts. Hence, the facelift is expected to regain the lost ground. Sadly though, currently it is only for Brazil.
