Renault Duster Facelift crash test report – Video
New Renault Duster is the best selling SUV in Colombia. Launched in 2014, it is manufactured by Renault in association with a local company called Sofasa (Sociedad de Fabricación de Automotores). Latin NCAP has put the base variant of new Renault Duster SUV up for test, to see how it performs during a crash.
The results of crash test gave Renault Duster a four star safety rating (scoring 11 of maximum 17 points) for adult occupants, but only a two star rating (scoring 21.37 points of a maximum of 49 points) for child occupants.
The crash test also revealed that new Duster offers good head protection, good knee protection but offers adequate chest and thigh protection. Another which came to light, was that Latin NCAP rated the bodyshell of new Duster as UNSTABLE.
As for the safety equipment offered with base variant of Duster in Colombia, it only gets driver airbag – no ABS, no passenger airbag, no ISOFIX anchorages, and no seatbelt pretensioners. Watch the full video of crash test below.
In Colombia, the new Duster is offered in a choice of nine variants and two engine options. These options are 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter flex fuel engines which generate 115 hp and 148 hp respectively. Price ranges from COP 47.05 million (INR 10.10 lakh) to COP 59.55 million (INR 12.78 lakh). It is available in manual as well as automatic transmission, and in FWD and AWD options.
