Renault India announced the launch of new petrol X-Tronic CVT variant of Duster SUV today. Along with that, they have also announced the introduction of new 1.5L H4K petrol engine, which replaces the earlier 1.6 liter mill. Price of new petrol 1.5l Duster with manual transmission starts from INR 8.49 lakh, while that of the CVT variant starts from INR 10.32 Lakh, ex-showroom.
Renault is actively expanding its petrol offerings in the country specially considering buyers new found migration towards petrol variants. The recent focus on diesel engines, combined with emission norms has turned buyer’s attention away from diesel models.

The new 1.5 liter engine is a four cylinder, petrol unit that offers 106 PS peak power (2 PS more as compared to older 1.6L petrol) at 5,600 rpm and 142 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm (6 Nm lesser). Mated to a manual transmission, this engine delivers 14.19 kmpl while mated to a CVT, this engine delivers 14.99 kmpl. The diesel engine on the other hand continues to be the same 1.5 liter unit as before. It is offered in two tunes – 85 PS and 110 PS. The former is mated to a 5 speed MT, while the latter is available with either a 6 MT or AMT. The 110 PS is also the only one which is offered with 2WD as well as 4WD. Others are 2WD. Mileage claimed by diesel stands at 19.6 kmpl for both engine options.
