Renault ends 2012 F1 season with 9 wins, 839 points and a double title

Sebastian Vettel’s performance at Brazilian GP last weekend saw him in sixth position and being crowned 2012 FIA Formula One Drivers’ World Champion. This is the third consecutive title for Sebastian with his Constructors’ Title at the Red Bull Racing and his victory at Austin, USA.

Sebastian owes credit to Renault which saw him through his three titles though his 26 year long career and 36 pole positions. Sebastian’s title is the 10th drivers crown for Renault which has seen other drivers receive the same accolades right since 1992 with Nigel Mansell. Later in 1993 it was Alain Prost while in 1995 it was Michael Schumacher followed in 1996 by Damon Hill.

1997 saw Jacques Villeneuve and after a gap Fernando Alonso was successful both in 2005 and 2006. Sebastian Vettel has a top performer for three years in a row in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus F1 Team finished the drivers’ championships third and made him the only driver to finish every race this season.
