As part of its 2027 International Game Plan, Renault is looking to strengthen its presence across Asia and the Middle East. A total of eight new cars are planned for launch by 2027 outside Europe, one of which is the Filante. To be manufactured at Renault’s Busan facility in South Korea, Filante is the brand’s longest SUV to go on sale. However, it’s not coming to Europe. Let’s get more details on Renault’s new flagship SUV.
Renault Filante – Design and features
Built on the CMA platform, Renault Filante has an attractive, athletic profile. Key features include an illuminated 3D grille, sleek LED headlights and a sculpted bonnet. The SUV has quirky LED DRLs with a 28-degree angle, which copies the geometry of the Renault emblem.
Side profile has large 19/20-inch sporty alloy wheels, traditional body coloured door handles, circular wheel arches and a sloping coupe-style roofline. At the rear, key features include a suspended spoiler, shark fin antenna and sleek tail lights in 3D style. Dimensionally, the Renault Filante is 4,915 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall.
It has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 201 mm. Filante is Renault’s second car based on the CMA platform, the first being the Renault Grand Koleos. The CMA platform was originally co-developed by Geely and Volvo. Renault has access to it as part of the partnership between Renault Korea and Geely.
Interiors, Equipment list
Renault Filante interiors have contemporary aesthetics, with focus on tech features, ergonomics and high-quality materials for a premium experience. One of the key highlights is a triple screen setup that covers the entire length of the dashboard. Each of these screens are 12.3-inches large.
Other key features include a 25.6-inch augmented-reality head-up display, a modern design for the AC vents and a new four-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls. Renault Filante comes with a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control and a premium air purification system. Users can choose from two audio systems – an 8-speaker Arkamys system or a 10-speaker Bose Premium system.
One can expect a calm cabin environment, as the Filante utilizes advanced soundproofing, optimized seals and acoustic glazing. The SUV has voice commands, OTA updates, remote vehicle functions, USB-C ports, onboard Wi-Fi and wireless smartphone charging. Safety kit includes more than 30 ADAS features.
Powertrain, Performance
Power is sourced from an upgraded full hybrid E-Tech 250 hp strong hybrid setup, which is designed for both performance and fuel efficiency. This full hybrid setup comprises a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It works along with two electric motors and is integrated with a 3-speed DHT Pro automatic transmission.
Combined output of Renault Filante is 250 hp and up to 565 Nm of torque. The SUV can meet around 75% of city driving needs in all-electric mode. This is made possible with a 1.64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
