Renault Fluence facelift unveiled in Malaysia

French automakers, Renault SA, announced that in alliance with Tan Chong Motors of Malaysia, the company will commence local production of Fluence sedan. This new agreement which Renault has signed with their Malaysian counterparts, will allow the company to expand their presence not only in Malaysia but in the whole of South East Asia.

Renault Fluence Malaysia (1)After launching the new Fluence in India, Renault has unveiled the same in Malaysia where it will be locally manufactured at the Tan Chong Motors plant in Segambut. This C segment sedan comes in based on the Renault Nissan C platform which also underpins Renault Megane and Koleos.

2014 Renault Fluence, being offered in colours of Ultra Silver, Black Metallic, Mars Grey and White Pearl, measures a total of 4618mm in length, 1813mm in width and 1485 mm in height while it sits on a wheelbase measuring 2702mm. It comes in with a single 2.6 16v X-Tronic variant, powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder engine producing 143 hp at 6000 rpm and 195 Nm torque at 3700 rpm while being mated to an X Tronic CVT transmission. This engine allows the new Fluence to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 10 seconds and hit a top speed of 195 kmph. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 7.7 liters per 100 km as per European cycle.

Renault Fluence Malaysia launchFeatures on board the new Fluence include projector headlamps with black surrounds, 17” alloy wheels with 205/55 series tyres and auto headlamps and wipers. Interiors are seen with leather seats, dual zone air conditioning, rear air vents, fold down arm rests and cup holders. Infotainment comes in the form of 7” touch screen with Renault R-Link, navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, MP3, CD and USB besides rear camera display, 6 speaker Arkamys 3D sound system and a total of 6 airbags. Coming in at a base price of RM115,000, the price includes a 5 year warranty and 2 year/40,000 free servicing.
