Even though exact date of launch of Renault Kwid 1.0 variant has not been confirmed, bookings of this more powerful variant of Kwid have been opened at authorized dealerships, with deliveries promised by October.
Renault Kwid 1.0 variant was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will be offered a 5 speed manual gearbox, with AMT option expected to be launched at a later date.
Renault Kwid 1.0 is powered by a 998 cc engine and will deliver around 67 hp peak power while mated to a manual gearbox. The 1.0 liter Renault Kwid will be sold along with the 800cc variant which made its market debut in September 2015.
Renault Kwid has been an instant success in India with over 1.5 lakh bookings to date. The company is set to augment production so as to reduce waiting period from a current 3 months to 1 month. New Renault Kwid 1.0L will compete with Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Hyundai Eon 1.0 and the Tata Tiago petrol.
Renault India has been testing the Kwid 1.0 liter variant for some time. It has been spied on test on numerous occasions and has been seen in Chennai with a SCe badge on the sides while added features such as alloy wheels were also evident.
Interiors could also get revamped with new upholstery and better quality plastics for knobs and buttons. The company is also working on a top spec variant of the Renault Kwid which would sport added equipment and safety features to include dual airbags, rear power windows and large 14” alloy wheels.
