The Renault Kwid 1.0L small car has been spied testing in Brazil for the first time. The Fiat Mobi rival is expected to go on sale in the market towards the end of this year or early next year and is hoping to revolutionize the budget car segment in the country.
The Brazil-spec version is identical to the India-spec model as far as design is concerned but according to the Brazilian media, the former will get larger rear view mirrors, body colored bumpers and chrome fog lamp housings. The interior too would be identical to the Indian version but one car expect the color theme and seat fabrics to be tweaked to suit the local tastes.
The Kwid for Latin America will be powered by a 1.0-litre flex-fuel engine which generates 77 PS while running on ethanol. A 5-speed manual gearbox would be the standard transmission option but high variants could get AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
In terms of equipment, the Brazilian Kwid is expected to offer airbags and ABS standard options to comply with the safety norms. In order to achieve the same result Renault managed in India, a very high local content is vital.

The Renault Kwid is estimated to be priced at around 30,000 reals (around INR 5 lakhs) in Brazil. It would be exported to the neighboring markets.
