Renault Kwid 1.0L test mules exported to Europe; debut slated for Auto Expo 2016

According to shipment data from, a fleet of Renault Kwid 1.0L test mules have been exported to Germany and France for testing purposes. The new variant of the highly successful budget hatchback is slated to make its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 which is set to commence in Noida on February 3 (press day).

The new 1.0-litre engine is most likely to be an evolution of the existing 800 cc three-cylinder unit and it will be focusing on keeping things simple in the interest of cost and fuel economy. The motor is estimated to have a power output in the vicinity of 70 PS. The engine would also debut a new 5-speed AMT transmission.

Renault Kwid success depends on service
The bigger engined Renault Kwid would also debut a AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

The bigger Renault Kwid will be pitted against the Maruti Alto K10 AMT and Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre. We can expect the French car maker to come up with very competitive price tag.

Launched late last year, the SUV-ish hatchback went on to become a game changer with over 85,000 bookings so far. The company is working intensely with its vendors to significantly increase the production rate of the Kwid in the coming months.

The Renault Kwid 1.0L AMT is aimed at creating a second wave of excitement in the budget car market.
