Though under heavy camouflage, the new Renault Kwid has been sighted while on test in The Netherlands, in Europe. Sporting its familiar design, the Renault Kwid is made in India and exported to markets across the globe. Export data reveals that the India made Kwid is as of now exported to France and Germany for testing and validation.
As on date, Renault Kwid is seen powered by a three cylinder 800cc petrol unit mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. This engine is capable of 54 bhp power and 72 Nm torque while mileage stands at 25.17 kmpl. Built of 98% localization, the Renault Kwid gets a 300 liter boot, 180mm ground clearance and a host of customized options yet to be seen in a vehicle in its class.
At the upcoming Auto Expo, Renault will debut two new variants of Kwid – one featuring AMT transmission and the other with a more powerful 1 liter engine.
Renault Kwid p will also be making its way to Africa and South America besides Iran. The international spec model will be different to that on sale in India as it would have to comply with safety regulations prevalent in the country of import along with more powerful engine lineup, bigger tyres and modified suspension. These changes are mandatory especially considering that speed limits are higher in these countries as compared to India. The international spec model will receive dual airbags along with ABS.
