The current Renault Kwid has been a huge success in India, garnering over 1.5 lakh bookings since launch back in September 2015. The first variant of Kwid to be launched was the 800 cc variant. Then came the 1 liter variant in August this year and now Renault India is preparing to launch an AMT variant of the Kwid, the same which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The new 1.0 liter petrol engine on board the new Kwid delivers 68 PS and 91 Nm. Currently, this engine is only offered with a five-speed manual gearbox. Soon it will also be offered with 5 speed AMT, which in Renault-speak is the Easy-R AMT tech.[asa2 tpl=”Sidebar”]B019C43DVM[/asa2]
The AMT gearbox onboard the new Kwid 1.0 liter can be operated via a circular knob, which is located on the centre console. It features R, N and D positions, for Reverse, Neutral and Drive modes, as seen in the image above. It also gets a creep function, which makes driving through traffic jams much less hectic.
Renault Kwid 1 liter is expected to have a price tag in the range of INR 4.1 lakh. It will be offered in two variants – RxT and RxT (O) as is seen on its 1.0 liter manual counterpart.
Renault Kwid comes with several segment first features like a 300-liter boot space, 180mm ground clearance and a 4.1” touchscreen infotainment system. High level of localization has allowed Renault India to keep the price of Kwid competitve and take on rivals like Maruti and Hyundai.
Below is the official brochure of new Renault Kwid AMT. Price and mileage figures will be revealed when the car is launched next week.
