Renault India portfolio comprises of Kwid, Pulse, Scala, Duster, Lodgy, Fluence and Koleos. Price of all these cars will be increased by up to 3% starting 1st January 2016.
Renault Kwid, the company’s biggest launch in 2015 has seen overwhelming demand with 70,000 bookings in the first eight weeks of launch. Sales touched 10,600 units in two months, taking company growth of the company to 144% in November.
This high demand has resulted in waiting period extending up to 10 months in some cases. Even today, there are customers who have not got delivery of their car, inspite of booking the car before it was launched. Many are now promised delivery in Jan 2016. Sadly, they will have to pay the higher price, and not the introductory launch price.
Renault has also revealed that from the existing production capacity of 5,000 to 6,000 units, they will step-up the production to 8,000-10,000 units by February 2016. This will bring a huge relief to those interested in this small car which competes with Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon.
Launch price of Renault Kwid started from INR 2.56 lakhs. It boasts of best in class cabin and boot space. Engine is in the form of a new 800cc petrol engine offering 54 bhp power and 72 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Mileage claimed stands at 25.7 kmpl thus making Kwid the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country.

Renault Kwid comes in with 6 versions. The base Std variant of Renault Kwid will see a price hike from a current INR 2.56 lakhs to INR 2.64 lakhs while the RxE, RxE(O), RXL, RxT and RxT(O) will see prices increases ranging from INR 8,640 to INR 10,590. The company is confident that this marginal price hike will not affect sales of the Renault Kwid.
