Renault Kwid sales cross 3 lakh in India – Facelift Kwid launch soon

Renault Kwid 3 lakh sales

With Renault Kwid crossing the 3-lakh sales milestone in India, it’s taken a little less than 4 years to get here having been launched in September of 2015. Renault Kwid reached the 1.75 lakh units landmark in July 2017, almost two years ago. The mini-car is available in six colour choices – Fiery Red, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue.

Renault Kwid is the only car in the segment which comes with 4 year / 1 lakh kms warranty. This includes the standard 2 year / 50k kms warranty plus the additional extended warranty of 2 yrs / 50k kms for free. For the four years, customers also get roadside assistance for free.

Renault Kwid is offered in a choice of two engine options – 800 cc and 1 liter. Price ranges from Rs 2.76 lakh to Rs 4 lakh for the former and Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 4.75 lakh for the latter. All prices are ex-sh.

The smaller 800 cc engine delivers 54 hp and 72 Nm. The more powerful 1 liter engine delivers 68 PS and 91 Nm. Both engines are mated with a 5 speed manual transmission. The 1 liter engine is also offered with AMT option.

Sales of Renault Kwid these days are at about 5k units a month. They are down from the peak of 8k per month, thanks to the launch of newer cars in the segment like Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and new Maruti WagonR.

To boost sales, Renault will launch a facelifted Kwid, which has already been spotted on test in India. The 2020 Renault Kwid facelift will come with design changes on the outside. The front and rear of Kwid facelift are inspired by the Kwid electric variant, which made its global debut in China earlier this year.

For now, Kwid electric is not planned for India. 2020 Kwid will continue to be powered by the same petrol engine options as it is on offer currently. But, the engine options will be updated to meet BS6 emission norms.

In its updated format, expect the 2020 Kwid to be more stylish, more refined and fuel efficient. Prices will be increased marginally.
