Launched at the end of September 2015, bookings of the Renault Kwid have crossed the 85,000 mark as has been revealed by Colin Macdonald, Managing Director at the Renault Nissan Alliance. The hatchback with 98% localization, was priced competitively from INR 2.56 lakhs at launch. Its price has now been increased by up to INR 11,000.
The increase in price and the fact that it commands up to 10 month waiting period (in some cities) has not deterred buyers from booking the vehicle. This waiting period is inspite of the company having increased production to meet with added demand.
Renault has also announced price hike of the Renault Kwid by INR 11,000 due to which the top end variant RXT(O) now costs INR 3,64,130 as against an earlier price of INR 3,53,131, while price of the base model is increased from 2,56,968 to 2,59,968.
Renault Kwid sports segment first features that include a MediaNav system with Bluetooth audio streaming, hands free telephony, USB and AUX-in ports. It also receives speed sensing volume control and a host of safety features. It measures 3,679 mm in length, 1,579 mm in width, 1,478 mm in height and sits on a wheelbase measuring 2,422 mm. It has a ground clearance of 180mm while fuel tank capacity stands at 28 liters. Renault Kwid is powered by a 799cc 3 cylinder petrol engine offering 53 bhp power and 72 Nm peak torque.
