Renault Lodgy India 1 Launch plans

Already spotted on test in India, near Renault Nissan Chennai plant, the new Lodgy MPV will be launched in India by January 2015. Production is set to commence at their Chennai plant later this year. Once launched, Lodgy will compete with Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Toyota Innova, Nissan Evalia, and Chevrolet Enjoy.

Renault Lodgy India 1 Launch plansLodgy has already been launched in Europe, where it has managed to create a market for itself in the entry level MPV segment. Just like the Duster, Lodgy too is a product from Renault’s subsidiary, Dacia. Built on Duster platform, Lodgy will target buyers with large families in India.

Though Renault failed to showcase this new Lodgy MPV to India at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year, they have already laid out launch plans, while road tests have already commenced. The new Renault Lodgy will boast of spacious interiors, added head and leg room and above all, extensive boot space.

This is also the same engine that has proved its power and performance on board the Renault Duster SUV with which the Lodgy shares other components as well, allowing the French automakers to keep prices competitive. To compete with Honda Mobilio, Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga, the new Lodgy is expected to be priced between INR 8-11 lakhs.
