Renault Nissan India signs settlement with employees union, to increase pay by INR 18,000

Renault Nissan India has invested over $1 billion till date.

Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) has signed a three-year settlement agreement with Renault Nissan India Thozhilalar Sangam (RNITS), its employee representative union.

The agreement is in effect from April 01, 2016 until March 31, 2019. As a result, plant technicians are warranted salary hike of Rs 18,000 progressively over the next 3 years. Benefits and schemes for employees and their families are included.

Colin MacDonald, CEO and Managing Director of Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd (RNAIPL) said, “Employees are the driving force for the sustainable growth of Renault-Nissan.” RNAIPL accords great importance on establishing a workplace that maximizes performance. The wage agreement aims to build a sustainable and performing organization via best benefits and schemes.

Chennai manufacturing plant operations began in March 2010. The Alliance has invested Rs 61 billion in it till date and introduced 32 new Renault, Nissan and Datsun models and derivatives. As one of the largest plants for the Renault and Nissan Alliance, the facility supplies to domestic and international markets. Largescale operations have resulted in exports upward of 600,000 units shipped to 106 countries.

At the start of 2016, the factory celebrated the one million cars production milestone. Third shift operations have been introduced to meet demand. RNAIPL operates a R&D centre in Chennaito focus on auto development in India. The manufacturing plant and R&D facility have created more than 40,000 jobs (direct and indirect included).
