Nissan and Renault have each posted a severe MoM decline in sales in Nov 2024 even as Renault showed off strong YoY growth
Higher festive sales through Oct 2024 which brought in improved demand for both the Nissan and Renault models, ended lower in Nov 2024. This was a trend witnessed by most automakers in India. Year-end purchases have failed to take off even as most automakers have announced price hikes from early next year.
Nissan India sales fell by 5% in Nov 2024. Magnite accounted for 2,342 unit sales, down from 2,454 units sold in Nov 2023. MoM sales also fell by 25% when compared to 3,119 units sold in Oct 2024. Renault on the other hand saw its sales grow by 15% YoY to 2811 units in Nov 2024 from 2,452 units sold in the same month last year. It however, suffered a 27% MoM decline. There had been 3,870 units sold during the festive month of Oct 2024.
Nissan Sales Nov 2024
Nissan Magnite sales stood at 2,343 units last month. There was also the X-Trail of which 2 units had been sold in Oct 2024 marking a 100% de-growth. The 2024 X-Trail was introduced in Sept this year, 8 years after its earlier counterpart was discontinued. Sales have declined to 0 units in Nov 2024, most likely because of the pricing being on the higher side as it is a CBU model.
Nissan has now announced that introductory pricing of the Magnite is set to end. Even as the new Magnite facelift was introduced with several feature and safety updates, it continued to be offered at the same price as its earlier counterpart. New pricing could be higher by 2-5% through date of this increase has not been revealed.
Renault Sales Nov 2024
Renault Triber was the highest selling model in the company portfolio with 1,486 unit sales in Nov 2024. This marked a 13% YoY growth from 1,312 unit sales of Nov 2023. MoM sales however, fell by 30% over 2,111 units sold in Oct 2024. There was the Kiger at No. 2 with 779 unit sales marking a hefty 47% YoY improvement from 530 units sold in Nov 2023 even as MoM sales declined sharply. Kiger sales fell from 1,053 units sold in Oct 2024.
Renault Kwid too suffered a YoY and MoM sales setback to 546 units. This marked a 10% YoY and 23% MoM decline from 610 units and 706 units sold in Nov 2023 and Oct 2024 respectively. Kwid sales could improve with the new EV being planned though launch is scheduled only in 2026. The company has also just shown off the 2025 Renault Duster. It is planned for launch sometime nest year. Testing in India has also started.
