Renault reveals Captur Algeria at Cannes and Convertible Zoe EV on Facebook [Update]

renault captur with algeria flag winner of inter country facebook contest (17)Earlier this year, Renault announced a new inter-country contest, promoting their all new crossover, Captur. Their new Captur was graphically dressed in the flag of various countries around the globe. All fans needed to do is vote for their favorite Captur, Captur India too was a part of this event. In the end, the winner was chosen on the basis of most votes, and Captur Algeria came out as the winner. So, as per promise, Renault made Captur Algeria a reality and showed it to the world at the 2013 Cannes film festival. Apart from this, two lucky fans also got a chance to get VIP passes to the event.

Renault has been the official supplier of cars for the last 30 years at Cannes Film Festival. This year, for the first time, Captur, Zoe and Twizy have been included in the line-up of the 200 strong fleet deployed for chauffeuring world’s best movie stars at the festival, which began on 15th May. It ends tomorrow, 26th May 2013.

In another Facebook event, Renault has asked their fans to cast their vote for or against a Convertible Zoe Electric. With a number of electric vehicles to their credit, Renault has the Twizy, Zoe, Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Z.E already in the market and is now contemplating a Convertible Zoe EV, renderings of which have appeared on the company’s Facebook page asking aficionados and ardent fans if they would like to see such a vehicle actually go into production.

Renault posted a rendering of this topless Zoe EV which has been made by a Spanish fan. The company has sought responses from fans and though the thought of an open to sky Zoe could stir up positive response it is not sure whether Renault is just testing public reaction or whether images of the vehicle are just posted to create some excitement.

In the meanwhile, fans have 2013 Zoe, the latest electric car from Renault to be excited about. Launched at prices commencing from €13,700 in France and from £13,995 in UK markets, the vehicle produces 87 bhp and 219 Nm torque with a maximum range of 130 miles between charges.
