Renault Trezor concept arrives in India at the 2018 Auto Expo
260kW (350hp) and 380Nm motor accelerates Trezor from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds.
Renault has packaged its electric and autonomous tech in the Trezor concept shown at the ongoing Delhi Auto Expo. The two door Renault Trezor looks new altogether, unlike anything the French automaker offers now and could very well indicate what the company’s future styling features could revolve around.
No doubt Renault Trezor looks sharp, but it’s the tech that drives the concept that’s sharper. Power comes from the electric motor used in the Renault Formula E race car to deliver 350 hp and 380 Nm torque. Trezor goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 km) in less than four seconds. The car uses two batteries and a brake-operated energy recovery system. In all, Trezor weighs in at 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds).
On the outside, there’s ample carbon fibre body work that embodies fluidic design. Smooth lines stretch across the car. The quintessential face of the car is missing. Doing away with a front grille, you’re looking right at air intakes that cool the brakes. The end to end windscreen is prominently red.
Being future ready, the concept shows off a fully-autonomous driving mode. So much so, the steering wheel stretches out so the operator is offered a panoramic view of the dashboard and central screen.
The central screen found uses OLED tech with Corning Gorilla Glass. The slightly curved offering isn’t dependent on back-lighting, resulting in improved contrast and colours. Renault looks to offer ‘hands-off/eyes-off’ autonomous features in the next decade.
