Showcased at 2020 Auto Expo, Renault Triber AMT variant will launch on 18th May
Launched last year, Triber has managed to become best selling Renault car in March 2020, beating Kwid. As of now, BS6 Renault Triber is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. There are four trims, RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. Soon, Triber AMT will be launched, which is expected to boost sales. As per a leaked document, bookings of the new Triber AMT will start on 18th May, which is when it will also arrive at Renault dealerships across India. Launch is also on the same day.
In terms of design, Renault Triber AMT is expected to be almost identical in comparison to its manual counterpart. The AMT model showcased at Auto Expo came with some additional cosmetic enhancements, but it’s not certain if these features will be offered in the production version. Major changes are likely to be limited to 5-speed AMT gearbox and the gear lever inside the cabin.
Triber AMT will be sharing much of its external design features with the manual variant. These include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, wheel arch cladding, body colour bumper, front grille and chrome insert, roof rails with load carrying capacity, front and rear skid plates, and styled flex wheels.
Interiors will also be the same, with key features such as dual tone dashboard, piano black finish / silver accents, fully digital LED instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, HVAC knobs with chrome ring, premium fabric upholstery and steering wheel insert.
In terms of comfort, Renault Triber is equipped with electric power steering, height adjust and tilt steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs, remote central locking, 12v socket, cooled glove box, and flexible second and third row seats that can be slid, folded and reclined. In terms of safety, the compact SUV offers ABS with EBD, dual airbags, speed alert warning, rear parking sensor, rear parking camera, seat belt reminder and pedestrian protection.
Renault Triber BS6 is powered by a peppy 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates max power of 72 PS and max torque of 96 Nm. Numbers of AMT variant could be slightly different. One of the key features of the engine is the dual VVT system that delivers maximum response across the rev range as well as improved acceleration.
After Triber AMT, Renault can introduce a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine for the SUV. Manufactured by Nissan and named HR10, the engine is capable of generating 95hp. This engine will also be used in the upcoming Nissan Magnite.
As compared to the manual variant, Triber AMT will cost around Rs 50k more. The manual variant is priced in the range of Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 6.82 lakh. The SUV does not have any direct competitor in terms of price range, but it can work as an alternative for buyers of similar priced cars like Ford Freestyle, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
